Resonance: The Basic Principle Behind Radio

But the physics behind the unusual vibration of leaves or any objects at relatively high amplitude is caused by a phenomenon called the Resonance. DEFINITION FOR THE RESONANCE The phenomenon of resonance is common among systems that have a tendency to oscillate at a particular frequency called as natural frequency. If an external source produces frequency equal to the natural frequency of a system the system starts to vibrate at larger amplitudes. Every system or objects has itself a natural frequency. Even your body has its own frequency. Here the solution for the unusual vibration of that leaves. There may be any frequency source which produces a wave matching the natural frequency of the bunch of leaves at that time. APPLICATION OF RESONANCE The most using application of resonance is the Tuning of a radio to get a specified station. There are hundreds of radio signals around your radio. But you are able to select only once of them and enjoy the programme. It is done by a tuner circuit inside the radio.The tuner circuit in a radio is a LCR circuit. It includes an inductor,capacitor, and a resistor. As every system an LCR system also has a natural frequency. Its natural frequency can be change by variable capacitor. Every radio station has its own frequencies, above or below which they have no permission to broadcast programmes. The frequency of a radio station determine the carrier wave at which frequency there are using. There are two types of modulation techniques. Amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM). Modulation is the term used to refer the process of mixing programme signals with the carrier waves. There modulated waves are always in contact with the aerial of your radio. When you tuned your radio on and started to tune, your tuner circuit's natural frequency changes. When the natural frequency of your tuner equals the carrier wave frequency of a certain radio station resonance occurs. The LCR circuit starts to oscillate at higher amplitude. The demodulation circuit demodulate the carrier wave and programme signal and reproduce the programme. Resonance have varieties of applications in daily life.
